Molly was more then just smart, she had a strong survival
ethic.
Moore agreed to remove her leg below the knee.
Then a temporary artificial limb was built. Molly
walked out of the clinic.
Her story truly begins there.
"This was the right horse and the right owner"'
Moore declared. "Molly happened to be
a one-in-a-million patient. She's tough as nails,
and sweet, and she was willing to cope with pain.
She made it obvious she understood that she was in
trouble. The other important factor, according to
Moore , is having a truly committed and
compliant owner who is dedicated to providing daily
care required over the lifetime of the horse.
Molly's story turns into a parable for life. The
little pony gained weight, and her mane grew enough
to now be combed, a human prosthesis designer built
her a leg.
This prosthetic has given Molly a whole new
life, Allison Barca DVM, Molly's regular vet,
reports.
And she asks for it. She will put her little limb
out as if to wave when asked, come to you to let you
know that she wants
you to put it on. Sometimes she wants you to
take it off, too.
And sometimes, Molly gets away from Barca. "It can
be pretty bad when you can't catch a three-legged
horse," Dr. Allison Barca laughs.
Most important of all, Molly has a job now.
Kay, the rescue farm owner, started taking Molly
to shelters, hospitals, nursing homes, and
rehabilitation centers. Anywhere she thought people
need hope.
Everywhere Molly goes she shows people her pluck.
She inspired people, and she had a good time doing
it.
"It was obvious to me that Molly had a bigger role
to play in life" Moore said. 'She survived a
hurricane, she survived a horrible attack,
life-threatening injury, and now she is giving hope
to others."
Molly is not back to normal, yet, but she's going to
be better.
The pony represents hope, she is a live, standing
symbol of
"Never Give Up."

Boom of prosperity, growth through the 1800s gave
way to what had been growing gloom as America's
growing pains finally caught up with the country.
The nation plunged into "Panic of 1907" on October
1st. That Spring a currency drain plunged the U.S.
into financial disaster brought on by overzealous
funding of new businesses, sent the markets.
Their crash warned those who understood economics of
coming depression. As the public felt fiscal squeeze
toward year end they made a mad grab to recover
money in banks. A run on New York's Knickerbocker
Trust which lacked resources to return money of
working people ultimately toppled Wall Street.
Sensing need for a infusion of cash President
Roosevelt turned to aid from his one-time enemy,
financier
J.P. Morgan. Capitalizing on his reputation Morgan
borrowed $1 million in gold from European
countries. (Alas, even with Morgan's help, the
depression continued to fall of 1908.)
DIESEL ENGINE PATENTED:
1893.
Rudolf Diesel received a patent in
Germany for the engine that bears his name. The diesel
engine burns fuel oil rather than gasoline and is used
in trucks and heavy industrial machinery.

October that forever loved TV show "The Honeymooners"
arrived.
Honeymooners debuted on CBS headed by TV comedian Jackie Gleason that still
makes us laugh even tho there are only 39 episodes.
Originated in 1951 as a sketch on Gleason's variety show Cavalcade of Stars
Jackie continued the sketches when he launched his new
Jackie Gleason Show. There he played bus driver
Ralph Kramden, with Audrey Meadows as his long-suffering wife Alice who deflated
his get-rich-quick schemes but often saved the day. Art Carney played Jackie's
and sidekick Ed Norton, Joyce Randolph Ed's wife, Trixie.
Different from most TV shows at the time
Honeymooners was filmed before a live audience
and broadcast at a later date. To allow Gleason more time to pursue other
producing projects. He taped two episodes a week, leaving him free for several
months at the end of the season. As
Audiences began to interact during shooting, you guessed it, TODAY'S "Reality
TV" was born.
